Sudoku Board

"Rules for Playing Sudoku"

The rules are simple and easy to follow. It does not require mathematical skill - just simple logic and reasoning.

The puzzle is usually a 9x9 grid made up of 3x3 sub-grids. Some squares already contain numbers, known as "given" numbers, and provided by the puzzle setter. The goal is to fill in the empty squares, one number in each, so that each column, row and sub-grid contains the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once. Each number in the solution therefore occurs only once in each of the three "directions" - hence the "single number" which is the meaning of the Japanese word Sudoku.

Advantages of the Moores Sudoku Magnetic Board

Moores magnetic sudoku has a number of advantages over the traditional paper versions.

  • The board is larger than the traditional newspaper version and is available in tow sizes - 21x30cm and 30x40cm - making it much easier to read.
  • The dry wipe pen and writing surface makes it possible to amend and erase errors without damaging the writing surface.
  • The board can be used over and over again by using puzzles from newspapers/books which means the puzzles themselves can be used again by friends and family.

How to use the Moores Magnetic Sudoku Board

  • Use the black and white magnetic numbers to place the "given" numbers in position.
  • Use the dry wipe pen to get started by writing in the likely/possible numbers in the appropriate squares.
  • Any incorrect numbers can be easily wiped clean as they are eliminated.
  • Place the coloured magnetic numbers in the correct positions as these are determined.
  • Easily spot the incorrect numbers using the colours of the magnetic numbers.
  • To test out "guesses", as necessary, write the numbers in larger size which can be removed later if necessary.
  • If it all goes wrong just remove the coloured magnets, leaving the black ones in place, wipe the board clean and start again!
