The importance and relevance of Digital Signage.

It's impossible nowadays to walk down a high street without seeing signs for pubs, cafes and restaurants all fighting for the top spot amongst other local establishments. These signs are the best way for the owners of these businesses to advertise to the passing trade where most of their customer base is made up from, so what happens when one owners suddenly invests in brand new technology in the form of Digital Signage?

I believe that traditional signage will always have its place in the advertising industry but there is no denying that more and more people are choosing to invest in the Digital signage options as the prices come down and the technology gets easier to use. Imagine how many Chalkboards you would need to display 10, 20 or even 50 adverts whereas you would only ever need a single Advertising display to do the same job? How often do you think a pub owner needs to change the drink deals in their establishment? Or how many times a day a Chef needs to change the Special Dish of the day? All of these things become a simple task when using a simple piece of technology that basically does the hard work for you.

A single sign becomes a sales person for your business, and the best sales person always gets the customers.

As well as the obvious advertising factors and increase in sales, over time they will decrease the spend previously deemed necessary in the form of Chalkboard Artists and the signs themselves. They will also become a vital tool when the 2014 Food Allergen Directive comes into force as of December 13th when all food has to be labelled to show whether or not they contain 14 different allergens to help people with allergies buy food. Just imagine how much work that will be for catering establishments all over Europe and how much easier and cheaper the task will become when using Digital Signage as opposed to traditional methods.

I think it is clear to see that Digital Signage is making a huge impact on the way people advertise and the way that customers respond to the signs. They will become more than a selling tool when optimised as an information portal to provide customers with any knowledge required, making them a multi channel piece of equipment and the future.

Hi, I think this is an interesting topic, I own a pub myself and have been thinking recently about the benefits of investing in Digital signs over my current traditional signs. I think this may have persuaded me! Thanks

Good morning Sid, thank you for your comment. I think that if you were to invest in Digital Signage then you would see a massive positive influx from your customers. Let me know how you get on, always good to hear from first hand sources.

Kind regards,

James
